Sensory Motor Therapy

Sensorimotor therapy explores the powerful connection between your emotions, nervous system and body. In a controlled sensory motor study, participants showed a statistically significant improvement in body awareness and anxiety symptoms decreased by 87% demonstrating measurable changes beyond simple talk therapy alone.

01

SLOW DOWN AND NOTICE

Instead of immediately explaining what happened, your therapist will ask you to pause and notice what happens inside you when you remember it. You might notice your chest tightening, your shoulders rising, your stomach turning or your body wanting to pull away; together, you begin to understand what those reactions mean and how to respond.

02

WORK THROUGH THE MOMENT

Your therapist helps you stay connected to the present while exploring difficult emotions or memories. Rather than forcing yourself to relive everything, you learn to recognize when your body is becoming overwhelmed and practice ways to remain grounded and in control.

03

REACTIONS YOU MAY NOT HAVE WORDS FOR

You may begin noticing patterns such as freezing when someone gets angry, becoming tense when you feel rejected, holding your breath during conflict or automatically making yourself smaller around certain people. Your therapist helps you explore these reactions with curiosity instead of judgment so you can get to the root of the issue.

04

EXPERIENCE  YOURSELF DIFFRENTLY

Helping you experience more choice in the present. With your therapist, you practice responding differently, so moments that once automatically triggered fear, shutdown or avoidance can become moments where you feel more aware, grounded and able to make positive choices that lead to your future destiny.
